Allpine Extra - chain degreaser
With its pine oil content, Allpine Extra is a powerful yet biodegradable degreaser: after rinsing with water, it will leave your chain perfectly clean.
- Ideal to prepare the chain for wax-based lubricants, which can adhere to clean metal, without the oily trace left by some common solvents.
- Great for cleaning brake discs!
- Rapidly biodegradable and extremely effective in eliminating greases and oils
- The addition of pine oil enhances the solvent action
- It contains surfactants of vegetable origin that allow rinsing (with water), eliminating any oily residue. It is also suitable for cleaning brake discs
- Harmless to chrome, painted parts and carbon: we still recommend an abundant rinse with water after use on the different surfaces
- It doesn’t require special disposal precautions (but maybe your lubricant does: if in doubt, refer to the legislation in force).
Biodegradable and with pine oil
In the development of Allpine Extra, in addition to effectiveness, we also prioritized low ecological impact. The addition of pine oil, a solvent of natural origin, has proved invaluable for these purposes. Allpine Extra is rapidly biodegradable.
Deep chain cleaning, after a simple rinse
Leaving the chain on the bike:
Spread Allpine Extra on the chain with a brush (such as our Cog Brush) or using Mangiacatena chain cleaner (recommended).
Let Allpine Extra act a few minutes to dissolve all the lubricants.
Rinse the chain with water to completely flush Allpine Extra, bringing every oily trace with it. This is made possible by its formulation, which includes surfactants (i.e. soaps) of vegetable origin. Your chain will thus be perfectly clean without the need to be disassembled.
Dry the chain thoroughly and lubricate it (we recommend Flowerpower Wax).
Removing the chain:
In case you prefer to perform immersion cleaning, you can fill the bottom of a jar with Allpine Extra and immerse the chain in it after having disassembled it.
Move the chain in the jar (or shake the jar, if equipped with a screw cap) so that the product penetrates inside the links.
Wait a few minutes, then take the chain out, letting the Allpine Extra drain into the jar.
Rinse the chain with water to completely flush Allpine Extra, bringing every oily trace with it.
Dry the chain thoroughly and lubricate it (we recommend Flowerpower Wax). You can keep Allpine Extra in the closed jar for successive cleaning.
Allpine Extra can be applied to brake discs to degrease them:
Apply to the disc surface with a cloth soaked in the product.
Leave to act for a few minutes.
Wash off with water.
Dry the disc with a clean rag.
Allpine Extra is available in 500 ml bottles.

Which parts of the bicycle can I use Allpine Extra on?
Allpine Extra is designed to degrease the bike chain and brake discs.
What types of chains is Allpine Extra suitable for?
Allpine Extra is suitable for any type of chain (from one to 13 speeds).
Do I have to use special tools together with Allpine Extra?
Allpine Extra can be applied to the chain with a brush (like our Cog Brush), or with a chain cleaner (like our Mangiacatena).
Do I have to rinse Alpine Extra after application?
Yes, Allpine Extra contains surfactants of vegetable origin that allow rinsing (with water), eliminating any oily residue very easily. It is harmless to chrome, painted parts, and carbon, but we still recommend an abundant rinse with water after use on the different surfaces.
Can Allpine Extra be used as a degreaser on the disassembled chain?
Yes: it is possible to dip the chain in a container with Allpine Extra, shake it well, then rinse the chain with water.
How does it differ from synthetic degreasers and solvents?
With its pine oil content, Allpine Extra is a powerful but biodegradable degreaser. It is able to perfectly clean the chain and make it ready for following lubrication: cleaning of metal is perfect because Allpine Extra does not leave any oily traces (unlike some common solvents).
How does it work with brake discs?
Unlike other liquid solvents, Allpine Extra is also excellent for cleaning brake discs because it washes off without leaving any trace or oily residue. Clean the discs with a clean rag soaked in Allpine Extra, then rinse the discs in plenty of water.
Should I use Allpine Extra before or after lubricating the chain?
Allpine Extra has to be applied before lubrication, to thoroughly degrease the chain and remove any residual dirt, in order to make it ready for following lubrication. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry before proceeding with lubrication.
What are the best techniques to thoroughly degrease the chain, using Allpine Extra?
Listing them in order of increasing effectiveness, here are four ways to use Allpine Extra:
- (with chain fitted) apply Allpine Extra with a brush
- (with chain fitted) apply Allpine Extra with Mangiacatena or other chain cleaning device
- (with chain disassembled) insert the chain in a jar with screw cap containing Allpine Extra, close, shake well, and leave completely immersed for a few hours
- (with chain removed) place the chain in an ultrasonic cleaner containing pure Allpine Extra
At the end, rinse well with water and dry before proceeding with lubrication.
Can Allpine Extra be used in ultrasonic cleaning tanks?
Allpine Extra is non-flammable and can be used without problems in ultrasonic cleaning tanks. For best results, it is better not to dilute it but to use pure Allpine Extra.
Not much more to say. I'm using this with a Park Tool chain cleaner. Cleans well, smells great, and I don't have to worry about it dripping in my grass. What more could you ask for?
